Grand Sovia Hotel

The hotel's location opposite Bandung train station is a real advantage, but the cockroaches outweighed that for me. I'd read reviews mentioning them before my stay, and unfortunately we found baby cockroaches in the room after checking in. The receptionist kindly offered to move us. After we changed rooms, housekeeping sprayed insecticide, but larger cockroaches showed up later. With the problem continuing, we decided to check out. I hope management takes thorough action soon.

The room was a comfortable standard size, with a fairly comfortable bed and pillows. The AC was cold, the bathroom was clean, and both the shower and warm water worked well. Room facilities were fairly complete, though amenities were incomplete. There was only one pair of slippers, and you had to pay if you wanted to take them home. Breakfast was pretty good, but the menu was limited. I liked the view from the pool on the 7th floor. The location is very convenient, opposite Bandung Station and next to the Damri bus pool, with mini markets and lots of places to eat nearby, including the well-known Kartika Sari. Staff were friendly, kind, and helpful, and check-in and check-out were quick. There is a deposit of IDR 100K. I booked a Double Deluxe Non-smoking room. I was fairly satisfied with the staycation, though honestly, for the prize I paid, I expected more. Thank you, Grand Sovia.

The location is the one good point. The room smelled of smoke despite being non-smoking, and there were several small roaches in the bathroom. The towel was still dirty, and the bed wasn't flat. It felt overused and poorly maintained. The AC didn't work properly, and changing rooms barely helped. The pictures looked good but didn't match the reality. When I complained to reception, they didn't seem to listen or even make eye contact. The engineer also talked BS while explaining the AC problem, with problem identification like junior high school.
