Horison Ultima Bandung

The room was just what I expected, and this hotel is one of my grandma’s favorites. The service has that super-friendly Indonesian warmth, with lots of smiles.

The service is what really let me down. I checked in at 8 PM with my family, and the front desk hadn’t mentioned the simple request I’d made when booking. When I asked, they replied, “Well, it’s just a request. We are not required to fulfill it.” I understood the hotel wasn’t obligated to grant it, but if they were committed to good service, they could have helped. I told them that. I knew the building was old and hadn’t had major upgrades in a long time. It had been considered one of Bandung’s finest hotels two decades ago, and I assumed that staying open meant the service must be excellent. That’s why I booked. Now I can see why it’s lost its luster: it needs renovation, and the service is far from satisfactory.

I attended an event here, but didn’t stay overnight. A friend told me some room facilities don’t work well. The ballroom is fairly large and cozy, and the food was delicious. Service was good too, though some areas look old. I wasn’t very comfortable in the mushola since there’s no fan or air conditioning.

The staff were helpful, and that’s why I’m giving three stars. Honestly, I wanted to give it one. The room had stains everywhere, a dirty towel, a broken button, and no proper light because the master bed lights didn’t work. There’s no extra lock, and the big gap means you can hear everything from inside and outside, which felt very unsafe. Please fix it 🙏 This doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel. I was too tired to make a complaint.
