Kimaya Braga Bandung by Harris

Braga Street is easy to reach from here, with street food, cafes, massage places, shops, banks and marts all nearby. The lobby cafe was good, and there's a small spot selling clothes and souvenirs. Staff were friendly, spoke English well, and the room was clean. Some things in the room weren't right. There was tissue by the sink that looked like housekeeping had missed it. The floor got slippery after a shower and I nearly fell. My towel smelled of cigarettes, the safe didn't work, and the hair dryer shut off after less than a minute, maybe because it overheated. I asked for another one, but its airflow was weak and drying my hair took 30 minutes. I could hear people walking and shutting doors because the room wasn't soundproof. The layout was awkward too, with no dressing table or mirror. The hangers were very high, and the door couldn't slide open, so getting my clothes was difficult. It was my first time in Bandung and I picked this hotel for its location, which really is excellent. Still, I wasn't satisfied with the stay, especially since we booked two nights. Don't expect a four-star experience just because it's called a four-star hotel.

BRAGA is right there, so you won't go hungry, haha. The staff are friendly, the gym is adequate, and the amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap. The room was on the small side. With two of us, fitting our luggage in was a squeeze. We stayed only one night, so I didn't really get to experience the staff's hospitality. I'd stay again if I found a good deal.

The hotel has some good points: it's right in the heart of Braga, Bandung, with lots of food nearby, and the area gets lively in the evenings with street bars and cafés. There's also a convenient Japanese fast-food restaurant inside. The room itself was perfectly decent. My check-in experience was disappointing. I'd already checked in and left my luggage, and when I came back I only wanted to collect my room key. I explained that to Dian at reception, but she insisted I retrieve my belongings from another counter. I understand that procedures matter, but a little flexibility and attentiveness would have helped. She also checked my check-in status twice. I had no issue with the checks themselves, but her sharp expression and curt tone made the interaction uncomfortable and unwelcoming. The breakfast tasted acceptable, though the selection was limited and didn't give me much reason to recommend it. In hindsight, I'd skip it and look at the many choices along Braga Street. I also wasn't comfortable with the bathroom door, which is glass covered only by a translucent film, giving limited privacy. I hope that if I return, Dian's manner has improved or she's moved to a role with less guest interaction. A more courteous approach would make a real difference. I mean this as constructive feedback: the property and location appeal to me, but the reception service let the stay down.

It offers good value, with excellent service and a memorable stay.
