The bright rooms were spacious, with glass doors and windows that let in sunlight and kept them from feeling closed in. We stayed three nights and looked at three rooms before checking in, then spent time in two different rooms. On the second day we moved because of a minor issue, including noise from the coffee shop downstairs that lasted until 1 a.m. The bed was very comfortable, though I wish there had been two more pillows, especially for couples or anyone who sleeps with two. The bathrooms need attention: the tub, shower curtain, and sink needed a thorough clean, and the tap should be fixed so water doesn't leak while brushing teeth or washing your face. Check the room before booking online. Paying upfront may also get you a lower rate and make for a more affordable holiday. The staff don't speak English, so we used Google Translate each time. You'll need Wi-Fi or a data SIM. The homestay owner was very nice, spoke English, and shared information about tourist spots in Bandung. The Wi-Fi itself didn't work properly. Breakfast was fine, especially the traditional Dutch-style bread with butter and chocolate sprinkles, which was nice with tea.

The guest house sits on a street corner, and getting around could be difficult unless you drive or have a hired car with a driver. There were no Grab, Uber, Gojek, or Gocar cars around the area. We booked two nights in a room with an extra bed for about 500k IDR per night during Chinese New Year. The room was okay and had enough space, with windows on both sides for natural light. It was generally clean, although there were ants. Breakfast was usually bread and jam, and you'd need to ask them directly for anything else. The nasi goreng was a bit salty.

Palagan Joglo was a lovely place to stay. The service was good, the bed and bathroom were clean, and the rooms were neatly furnished. It felt cozy and comfortable, with good value for money.

Affordable, comfy, and homey, with enough room and a bathtub. I'd definitely come back.
