The Mangkoro Hotel by Sinergi

The location is near malioboro, so getting there wasn’t a worry. I really liked the classical Javanese feel, and the family room on the second floor was very spacious. They provided hotel-style amenities and a bath tube, which our kids loved for bath time 😍😍. There’s also a swimming pool, though be careful because it’s 1.2-1.4m deep. We got a fairly cheap peak-season price, 660k with breakfast for three people, fried chicken and rice. The hospitality was good, but the room cleanliness needs improvement. One especially wonderful thing is that the owner has Affandi’s paints “Ayam Djago”.

The location isn’t ideal if you want to walk places, since there’s nothing within walking distance, but that didn’t bother me. I loved the classic Javanese architecture and the hotel’s peaceful atmosphere. My room was spacious and cool, and the staff were lovely and very helpful. It was great value for money, and I’ll be back soon.

The house had a beautiful Yogyakarta feel, and all the staff were welcoming. I stayed for two nights with my young children while visiting Kotagede. Breakfast was tasty and brought to our room at 6:30am. A couple of things were inconvenient: the shower temperature was hard to manage, sometimes getting too hot and sometimes not hot enough, and there was no trash bin in the toilet or bathroom.

I’ve been staying here since February 2024 and keep returning whenever I’m in Yogyakarta. There’s lots of space, and it feels cozy, quiet, and friendly. The pool is clear and the staff are super helpful.
