Breakfast had plenty of choices, and at first our stay was going well. Then I asked whether a dish was vegetarian and contained fish sauce. Staff assured me it was vegetarian and had no fish, but after I ate it, another staff member told us it did contain fish sauce. I was really upset. We’d asked directly and were given wrong information. It shouldn’t be difficult to list ingredients and allergens. We left right after breakfast to stay elsewhere, even though we were in town for another three days. That kind of neglect isn’t acceptable. I hope they label vegetarian and vegan dishes and allergens, and make sure staff know what’s in the food.

Most things were okay, but there were some drawbacks. Noise from outside came through because the rooms aren’t soundproof, and the AC took a while to cool the room. The in-room entertainment was poor.

The pool was a nice extra, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was great, with authentic Asian food and a little international variety too. I got a great rate and stayed two nights to relax before hiking up the Ijen. The hotel is a bit out of town, though, so we needed a taxi for everything.

The atmosphere was great, and the location was convenient, with a beautiful view. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the facilities felt modern, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had an excellent stay at Illira Hotel Banyuwangi, one of the best places to stay in Banyuwangi.
