Hotel Gloris

I paid about 9 SGD a night through Agoda with the app discount. For a solo budget stay of one or two nights, it was pretty fine. Couples, families and women travelling alone would be better off paying more for another hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly, and it felt like a legitimate hotel, unlike some OYOs, lol. The bathroom was clean and had no smell, but there were no amenities apart from one tiny hand soap. Two water bottles were provided, and hot water was available from a cooler on the ground floor. The shower had both hot and cold water. WiFi was okay for scrolling at night, though it disconnected now and then. The TV worked, with Indonesian, Chinese, Korean and English channels. The two large bath towels had a fresh steamed-wash smell, better than some budget places I've seen. There are shops and convenience stores nearby for getting dinner into the night, and Nagoya mall is about a 10-minute walk away. The room smelled a little when I first opened the door, but that went away. The furniture and other items were worn. The sheets had visible yellow stains under the blanket and cigarette holes, and the pillows smelled a bit of oil and sweat, like they hadn't been washed thoroughly. I also found a tiny cockroach in the cabinet and another by the bedside. Smoke from other rooms came through sometimes, and you could hear footsteps and kids running in the corridor. The room isn't soundproof.

It's a cheap hotel in a good location, but the room was dirty and smelly, and there were bedbugs. I booked for two days, and the WiFi worked sometimes and failed at other times.

The room smelled bad, and cockroaches were crawling around both the room and bathroom. Even after the sheets were changed, they were still very dirty. There was no deposit, which seemed to say a lot about the condition of the room. With the low price, don't expect a comfortable stay. I had to stay here because most hotels were full for Indonesia's Independence Day, and it wasn't a good experience. If you're not on a tight budget, book somewhere else.

A nightmare. The room smelled really bad, and the sheets and towels were black with stains and hair on them. It was noisy all night, with people moving things around, walking and knocking.
