Hokkie Hotel

If you get stuck in Batam, this is a decent place to sleep and shower. I stayed because my flight was delayed and I missed the ferry. It was pretty decent for the price, with a nice gym, a spacious room, and hot water. The room smelled as if someone had smoked in it, even though it was meant to be non-smoking. Phone reception was poor, and the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. I could hear the person next door using the toilet, and the toilet seat was a bit dirty.

The room and bathroom smelled, the sink was broken, and the TV was old and in bad shape. Check-in took a long time. There was a kettle but no coffee, tea, or sugar. Loud music went on all night, so there was no quiet sleep.

I usually don’t stay in hotels unless I have to. This one showed up randomly on my Agoda booking for $5, so I booked it. I ended up loving it, it was amazing and beyond what I expected. The place was calm and cosy, with lots of amenities, friendly staff, and clean, tasty food for under $3. The gym costs $15 a month. Extraordinary experience and great value for money. I’m coming back, OYO, I love you.

The hotel is in a calm, cooler area, and the staff are helpful. The service overall could be improved.
