Nine Days Hotel

It’s about a five-minute walk from Harbourbay ferry terminal, and there’s a 24-hour halal chicken rice shop next door, plus a 24-hour mart. The staff were very friendly and answered questions politely. We were happy with our stay, and this inexpensive place met the standard of a basic hotel. Our standard room was surprisingly neat and clean, although there was a strange stain on the bedsheet. We understand it might have been hard to remove, but it shouldn’t have been put back on the bed. The bed and pillow were comfy, the aircon was great, and the hot water worked well. Water pressure was reasonably alright. There was a strange drainage smell when the water ran, but it wasn’t overwhelming. We could tell they made an effort to keep the place clean. Smoke did sometimes get into our non-smoking room, though that wasn’t a big issue for us. There’s no elevator, so we had to carry our suitcase up three floors.

UPDATE: Nov 2024 I tried Nine Days again, and I’m glad to report that the rooms are once again cleaned every day. With Harbour Bay developing and Grab and Gojek available, the location is becoming more convenient as a base in Batam. I stay here regularly when I visit Batam, but I’ll probably need to find somewhere else soon. They had stopped cleaning rooms daily. I checked in one night and told reception the next morning that my room could be cleaned while I went out for a bite. When I got back, they said it could only be done the following day because they clean rooms every two days. I don’t ask much of a hotel, but cleanliness is non-negotiable.

Good room, and the staff were polite. It’s easy to get to from Harbour Bay terminal, with a few food courts and a 24-hour mart nearby for quick purchases. Most importantly, it’s budget friendly.

The staff are courteous and helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The location works well if you want to take a day trip to Singapore.
