Sans Arya Hotel Batu

After a six-hour drive, I picked this place to rest. It’s about 1 km from Alun-Alun Batu, with other food stalls and cafes nearby. There’s a “warkop” and Bakso Malang at the lobby too. The room was fine and clean, and I think the building is new. The water heater took a few minutes to get warm. I didn’t turn on the air-con because the weather was already cold. I chose the small room without breakfast since I prefer finding local food outside, and the price was affordable 😁 A good option for budget travelers. One thing to improve is the parking, which only fits two or three cars.

The hot water has been the recurring problem on both of my stays. I complained the first time, and they followed up quickly, but the water still hadn't improved by the last day. I hope the heater issue doesn't happen again. That's why I gave the service four stars 🙏🏼 Parking is limited and can be a hassle when it's busy. Cars end up on the roadside, which felt a bit dangerous and took away motorists' space. Hopefully they can expand the parking area. In my first-floor room there was a Qibla direction indicator, but the second-floor room I'm in now doesn't have one, so perhaps they could add them upstairs too. This is my second stay at the Sans Arya Hotel. I came back because I trust its cleanliness and security, even though I had considered trying another affordable, well located place in Batu. It's near the Batu city government office, and the town square is about a 10-minute drive when tourist traffic isn't heavy. I booked through Traveloka again, at the same price as my first visit, for my usual three-day, two-night annual trip. This time I asked for an outside-facing window for sunlight and fresh air, and got a second-floor room. My previous room was at the back on the first floor, before there was a second floor. The atmosphere and facilities are standard, but the room was tidy and comfortable, and the bed, amenities, and toilet were spotless, as you can see in the photos. It's a relatively new hotel, and I hope it stays this clean. For visitors planning to stay, it may be useful to bring a portable prayer mat if you're Muslim, dry tissues or a hair dryer, and enough mineral water. These aren't provided, and you may need to buy them outside.

Easy to get to, near Batu Square, so finding food shouldn't be a worry, haha. We paid 205,000 Rupiah, and check-in at 12:00 PM was possible for an extra 30,000 Rupiah. I was already sleepy, so that was fine. My wife and kids were comfortable and happy, the hot water worked as expected, and the receptionist was communicative. There were meatballs in the lobby, but they weren't selling them that day, so I bought some outside. The receptionist offered bowls and cutlery so we could eat in the lobby. The prayer room was very well prepared. We were very helpful and satisfied, and everything was satisfactory 👍

Worth checking the room type and size before booking since they vary. Refills for drinks, amenities, and the fireplace are available on request. The mattress was comfortable enough, though the pillows were too thin. The hotel is in a strategic spot near Alfamart, Warung Bu Ani, Warung Djamiah, Nasi Tempong Cak Ri, Steak Obana, and De El El. There's integrated meatballs from Cak Man Madonna and different drinks in the lobby.
