Villa Evan Batu

The kids enjoyed the private pool, and I found the stay at Villa Evan quite pleasant. It was clean enough and didn't smell damp. I booked through the Liburan Batu villa agency, whose staff were friendly and courteous, and the check-in service was very good. The gated entrance and several CCTV cameras made the grounds feel secure. There are 4 bathrooms, although the specifications only list 2. Two have showers and toilets; the other two only have toilets, including one squat toilet and a small bathtub for the driver or maid. There are 4 rooms in all, but only 3 can be used because one is locked, supposedly for storage. The beds were comfortable and the sheets clean. All the rooms have AC except the living room, but it felt quite cool with the door open. The space feels roomy enough for a large family, and unlike many villas in Batu, there was no musty smell. Cooking and eating items are provided, along with drinking water, including woks, pots, plates, bowls, and glasses. Restaurants and minimarkets are nearby. Vendors come through the complex: roti (sour bread) in the morning, bakso (meatball soup) in the afternoon, then ronde gula merah (brown sugar round rice balls) and angsle (angsle) at night. The pool didn't smell of chlorine. A few building corners need repairs: the walls and ceiling are zipped, the buffet is peeling, the grass behind needs trimming, and the poolside lights are out. On check-in day there were ants in the upstairs room and by the kitchen stove. The agent responded quickly and said Baygon was available or they could send more if it ran out. After we sprayed it, the ants disappeared. There are also stray cats around the villa complex, and sometimes they chase us for food. 😅 The road into the villa is a narrow stretch of several meters, just wide enough for two cars and a bit tight, before it opens into the larger villa complex.

Service was slow, and the sheets were dusty and itchy. There were lots of ants, and they didn't provide towels. I feel that 3.5 million rupiah is too expensive.
