D'Sawah Villa

The staff were very friendly, though communication could be difficult at times since only a few spoke some English. I booked through booking and left a review there too. I have to admit, I have a love-hate relationship with the place. The location suited me perfectly, and I liked the concept of the rooms, but the execution fell short. Cleanliness of towels, bedsheets, curtains, and floors needs attention, as does the setup and equipment. For example, the rooms need hand soap. Still, I had a pleasant stay.

The pool was big and nice to use, and the restaurant food was good. I stayed for one night, and the place was convenient for surfing at kedungu beach. The rooms are basic and could use a refurbishment and some care, though they were fine for one night. People walk right past your windows and door on their way to their rooms, so keep that in mind if privacy matters to you. There are no drinking water refills, which doesn’t feel environmentally conscious. The restaurant also doesn’t provide drinking water, so you have to buy plastic bottles of aqua, adding to Bali’s plastic and rubbish problem.

The place was lovely and not too crowded. Our room and the pool were clean, and breakfast had a nice variety of choices. The nearby beach was beautiful and popular with locals, and the rice field views were amazing. Tanah Lot was fairly close. For getting around or going out to dinner, you’ll need a motorbike. The owner, his family, and the staff were really friendly and helped with everything we asked. Hopefully we’ll come back one day :)

The pool was really nice, and the breakfast and coffees were good. You can get food on site, and the place is near a couple of beaches and not too far from Tanah Lot Temple. Inside, it’s nicely decorated, though the property still feels a bit like a building site. During the day you can hear and see construction work, which is a shame. The bed in room 1 was really uncomfortable. I complained, so hopefully they’ll get a new mattress. Considering the construction and the bed, I think it should be a bit cheaper. It was fine for a night or two, if the bed were more comfortable.
