Tree House Lodge

The internet was great for the days I needed to work and make video calls. I loved swimming in the pool surrounded by greenery, then having coffee on the balcony and watching birds fly around and drink. The view of the sea from the top balcony was amazing too. The staff were the best, always cheerful and ready to help where they could. I enjoyed the stay so much that I extended it. Highly recommend!

The location is good, the view is lovely, and we especially liked Haruka the beagle. It’s affordable and the room is decent, though too dim at night because the lights aren’t enough. The bathroom was okay, but the water pressure was low. The two staff members were nice, but the place seemed understaffed. The sound insulation was the worst part. The first two nights were fine, but on the third day two men moved upstairs. Every time they walked, the ceiling groaned and wood bits fell onto our bed. We could hear their conversation clearly even though they weren’t speaking loudly, so we barely slept on our last night.

We were meant to stay from 28 December 2024 to 2 January 2025. I’m not a picky traveler, I just need a toilet with toiletries and a dry bed. Instead, the room was uninhabitable, with water leaking from the ceiling onto the bed. We asked to change rooms, but the same problem happened in several rooms, so staying there wasn’t possible. When we canceled and asked for a refund, the receptionist contacted the owners in Malaysia, who flatly refused. Booking.com tried to reach them too, but got no reply. After more than a week of back-and-forth that we had to initiate, the hotel’s so-called “customer service” offered only a partial refund, even though the facilities weren’t fit for guests. This is more than poor service, it shows blatant disregard for customers and comes close to fraud. They still won’t return my money. I hope this review, and the travelers it discourages, will cost them much more. I’ll make sure people are warned about this place on every platform.

This place worked well for me during a full week’s stay. It’s affordable even for local tourists, and I’d recommend it despite the rating I gave. The location is convenient, close to the main road but still quiet, with a mini mart just a 2-3 minute walk away. The place has a certain charm at night, and there’s a kitchen, a pool, and a small gym, which mattered to me. Traditional markets, mini markets, Mc D, KFC, and some beaches are about 15 minutes away by motorbike. It’s a good spot to unwind after a day of work or visiting local sights.
