Tamarind Beach Bungalow

We left a night early to stay somewhere else, even though we'd already paid. The room was really run down, with no furniture except a very old bed that made a loud noise whenever you turned. I asked for a change of room and they agreed, but the bed was just as old and noisy, and the bedside table lamps were covered in spider webs. The sheet was too small and kept sliding in, leaving the bare mattress exposed. The AC was broken. It cooled the room but made an annoying noise that wasn't normal AC noise, it sounded broken. Staff were helpful at check-in, but after I raised my concerns, they were hard to understand and seemed not to care, maybe because the place stays busy in high season as people come and go. Luckily the accommodation we'd stayed at before had become available, so we went back. Totally not worth the money. I hate leaving a review, but hopefully management can do something with the space, which has real potential.

The first night there was a power outage. I asked the desk guy if he had lanterns, candles, anything at all, but he did nothing and kept watching YouTube videos. Later I went to the market around the corner for candles, and the man there said these blackouts had been going on for months. You'd think the hotel would have something to offer if they know it's an ongoing problem. The guy at the desk was unhelpful whenever I asked anything, dismissive and glued to his videos. I know it's a budget hotel, but this was honestly the worst experience I've had anywhere, and I wanted to warn other travelers. The rooms were dirty, with sand in the bed, mold in the bathroom and a shower with no pressure or hot water. The toilet seat wasn't attached, so it flew off unless you sat down precisely. There was no furniture except the bed, so our things had to go on the gross floor, which was never cleaned. Dead bugs and dust were everywhere. The lights didn't work, and we had to unscrew bulbs to turn them on or off. There was an overwhelming mothball smell, bed planks broke when we sat down, and no bottled water or other amenities. The place is absolutely disgusting. Photos online make it look cute, but beware, it felt like false advertising to me. ✌️

The garden is lovely and the restaurant has a beautiful view, but the staff offer very few services. Breakfast is supposed to run from 8 to 10am, yet don't expect anyone before 8:30. They provide two mini water bottles in the room when you arrive, and that's all, which felt really stingy. The free breakfast was very veryyyy small, and every day there was less fruit on our uncooked crepe. If you're staying a while, don't expect your room to get cleaned. It won't happen.

Rats everywhere, tikus 🐀. They moved me from one rat infested room to another and only said sorry ma’am. The rats jumped on my bed and wouldn't leave, so I had to sit outside all night. Clearly it's their home and they aren't scared of people. The place is noisy all day and smells of urine everywhere. The food isn't great apart from the chicken soup, and they just don't care. People who aren't staying there take over the pool and loungers, so you can't use them. It's surrounded by mountains of trash, hence the rats. Just don't go here, it's not safe.
