Finding a Grab to the airport in Berastagi was tough. We tried more than a dozen times, but although the drivers were only 8 minutes away, none accepted or answered. We ended up walking to the bus station and stopped at cafes and guesthouses on the way. We were impressed by the lovely owner who found us a driver for a reasonable price, not much more than Grab. He spoke excellent English, and the coffee was especially good. We ordered three hot Americanos for two people because we really love coffee. We had come to Sumatra for the Orangutans 🦧, volcanoes, and coffee. Surprisingly, we couldn't find cafes with coffee machines, and most locals seemed to drink packaged coffee. Best regards!

Brian patiently answered all my questions, and the coffee was delicious and reasonably priced. The room was comfortable too. My only gripe was that the Wi-Fi didn't reach up to my third-floor room.

The staff were kind and happy to help arrange tours or transportation, and the coffee was great, especially the espresso since they roast it there. We stayed three nights and found the room clean, with hot water. It was a great stay for the price.

The room was basic but comfortable. The owner welcomed me with a free espresso after hearing I’m Italian, and the staff were wonderful. The coffee was amazing. Great place!

Customer service was good, and I could keep my bike inside overnight. The main road location is very noisy, though, and the building has no sound insulation, so bring earplugs. It works for an overnight stop, and it's cheaper than the other hotels. Berastagi hotels are overrated in general, with their so-called standard more like motel or wisma standard, maybe worse. The standard room is small and needs a much better clean. The sheet and blanket had lipstick and dried liquid of unknown origin, and there was sticky candy and a clump of hair on the floor. The cleaner really needs to do the job properly. I know it's cheap, but maintenance matters if they want a good business. There are lots of street vendors selling similar food at night. Don't get the boiled clams, many were off and expensive, a waste of money. Try bandrek, the ginger drink, maybe with milk if you find it too spicy. It's like chai tea, with ginger as the main ingredient.
