It’s a simple, basic place just for sleeping, and it won’t suit everyone. If you’re coming from a Western country, you might find it too basic. There’s no sink, shower head, hot water, or wifi, just a wet squat toilet (see the picture posted by others). There’s no mobile signal around the area either. It’s fairly clean, though the sheets aren’t white, so it’s hard to judge. Generally there’s no bad smell. The bed seemed fairly new and was comfortable, not too soft or too hard. There was a slight cigarette smell, but the room isn’t well sealed, so opening the window cleared it. The weather was cool enough that mosquitoes weren’t an issue. They provide a ticket for a nearby hot spring shower, but don’t expect it to be like a hot spring in another modern country. I couldn’t find anywhere there to rinse off or change. If you’re driving, don’t approach from the west side of the road, by the main entrance or gate for the sibayak hike, unless you have a 4X4. Past the parking lot at the sibayak entrance, the road has a VERY STEEP DROP and is BUMPY, so it’s dangerous without a 4X4.

The owner was really friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely place to stay, tucked behind Mount Sibayak, and the air gets very cold.

The owners are two lovely sisters, and they went out of their way to help when I had trouble with my card. I won’t forget their kindness. The place is right at the foot of Mount Sibayak and near the hot springs. You can contact them through Google Maps, and I’d book directly instead of using trip.com. Had an amazing stay!

We had a great time staying here, and already miss it.
