With only pedestal fans and limited airflow at night, it can be worth asking for a cooler room. Mine meant giving up the wonderful view, but that was worth it to me. The restaurant has a stunning outlook and serves pancakes, omelettes, or nasi goreng at breakfast. The rest of the menu is limited, and the kitchen is open only from 2:30 to 7:30 pm after breakfast. They do have cold beer. For most of my lunches and dinners over three days, I went next door to Tevana House Reef, which was pricier but had a more elaborate menu. They can also arrange diving and may consider snorkeling trips. For the price, this is a simple, peaceful, comfortable little resort. The rooms and linen were clean. I used Google Translate with the staff, and it worked well. They brought a kettle to my room when I asked, and kindly let me switch rooms. I arranged that through the owner, who responds quickly on WhatsApp from Jakarta. They also pointed me to a nearby laundry service, which you reach by scooter.

A real little gem in Bira. The bungalows come in different sizes for different budgets and are very reasonably priced. The rooms above the restaurant deserve a special mention for their incredible sea view. The driver whose number is posted in the restaurant was excellent. He can take you wherever you want, even all the way to Toraja.

A peaceful choice if you're after lovely views of Bira Beach. The traditional room design makes you feel close to the surrounding nature. There are only 10 rooms, so book at least two days ahead. They don't have AC, probably to keep the natural feel of the place.

Bungalow A had a beach view, and I could still enjoy the sunset from there. The bungalows are really nice, and the price is great.

The hospitality from the staff was the highlight, and the fried banana was great. One small tip: ask them to leave sugar out of your coffee or tea, since drinks in Bira usually come sweetened. We had the best bungalow in the complex, looking out to sea. The room is small, but the balcony is wide and has a hammock for relaxing. For the price, it's good value compared with bungalows that cost twice as much. There's no AC, just a large standing fan, which we knew before booking, and no hot water. At 30°C, who needs it? The beach has fine white sand and clear blue water. If you like snorkeling, it's an easy swim out to the reef.
