Hotel Santika Bukittinggi

The balcony view was fantastic. From our room, I could see the water fountain at the Monopoli Hotel (formerly Novotel Bukittinggi). It was also easy to walk to Jam Gadang, and Pical Ayang, a famous local food spot, was only a few steps away. You can even spot its roof from the hotel’s rooftop lounge. We came for a Christmas escape from busy city life in Pekanbaru, and the new toll road cut almost two hours off the trip to Bukittinggi. Our room was comfortable overall, with clean new towels and a smart TV offering Netflix, YouTube and other channels. The sheets looked a little worn, though, and the floors in the room and corridor could use a deeper clean. The door stopper really needs fixing. In the morning, kids ran between rooms, and the doors sounded as if they were slamming, which was pretty irritating even though the stopper was the problem. Breakfast had plenty of choices. The coffee could have been hotter, and the machine didn’t make a very good cappuccino, but that was acceptable. I’d highly recommend this hotel in Bukittinggi, especially if you want to avoid unpleasant surprises. Santika is a reputable, well known hotel brand, and it shows.
