K Ko Surf Village

One thing I appreciated was having plenty of drinking water, instead of the little plastic bottles you get in other places. The owner was thoughtful and sent instructions, along with places to eat and see. The location was handy too: with a rented bike, Ubud, Kuta, and the mountains are all reachable within an hour. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable, set apart from the main house. There’s a magnificent pool, and the place is almost on the beach, close enough to hear the sea from the pool. There’s also a nearby beach club where you can get a snack and rent a surf.

The sunset beach to the left of K Ko Surf Village was our favourite. Each evening locals gathered there to fly kites, spend time together, and enjoy the sunset without phones or distractions. Such a peaceful, stress-free feeling, exactly what we needed. There are also relaxed local beach bars if you walk along the coast to the right, and some good restaurants about 20 minutes away on foot. We only meant to stay two nights, but liked the clean, comfortable place and friendly, helpful staff so much that we added a third. The beautiful black sand beach is just a short walk away.

Joe made the whole experience feel special, even before I arrived. The room, massages with Juli, pool, garden, breakfast, sunrise, sea sounds, and the peaceful atmosphere were all wonderful. One night I ordered excellent food from Legong while it was pouring rain. I couldn’t believe they delivered in that weather, and just after it arrived, Joe knocked on the door with utensils for my meal. That was above and beyond. I booked K Ko because the Magical Melasti Ceremony was nearby, about five minutes away. What I didn’t expect was how healing the stay would feel. I broke my ankle last year, and my Physio had told me, "Tessa, you have trauma to deal with." Staying here unexpectedly helped with that. Thank you, Joe, for creating such an amazing place. I’ll absolutely be back.

The host, Joe, was a legend, full of knowledge and good vibes. The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were fantastic and clean. It’s a short stroll from the main break. I highly recommend it.
