Hotel Grand Mutiara

I spent two nights at Grand Mutiara Hotel for work. The AC and fridge both worked, but the water heater was unreliable. The hotel has potential, though it feels badly neglected, with cobwebs, dirty floors, and old furniture stacked in the lobby. Even the morning mopping seemed more like a comedy routine than proper cleaning. The terrace looked out onto an abandoned, creepy building. My room was spacious, but it felt dated, and the bathroom was filthy with a slippery floor. The toilet was so cramped that I was practically pressed against the wall, and I couldn't wait to leave. When I arrived near midnight, my first impression was pretty decent. Later, I went looking for the lobby restroom and had to walk down a pitch-dark corridor full of old, broken furniture. It got dirtier the farther I went. The restroom was a mess, had no running water, and felt like something out of a horror film. With some real care, this place could be a gem, maybe even Bontang's best. For now, it feels more like a ghost story, and our driver had spooky stories to add. I left wishing I'd had an exorcist instead of a room service menu.

We had to stop for the night because a traffic accident had closed the road. The hotel and rooms were poorly maintained, and the pool water was very dirty. Breakfast was OK.

The WiFi connection was pretty good, and the staff, though few in number, were trying their best. Still, the place feels abandoned, with leaks everywhere, poor cleanliness, weak room facilities, and murky water. The facilities need major improvement.

I stayed one night while signing off from the ship, on the company's account, so I can't really compare the price with the service. The place was just okay, so don't expect much. The people were good, and the service staff were humble and decent, but the property is poorly maintained.
