The gardens are beautiful, with a forest across the river behind the property. In the morning there was mist, and I could hear all kinds of birds and insects. It felt magical. We stayed in a private building separate from the other rooms, and the very friendly, helpful staff carried our luggage there. Room service arrived promptly and the service was great, but the food was terrible. Our grilled shrimp was badly charred and had almost no taste. The drinks were great, though. I'd definitely come back, but I'll avoid ordering meals.

A good place to rest before exploring the area, but I wouldn't choose it for a hotel stay focused on the property. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was salty and served à la carte rather than as the usual hotel buffet. I understand that might be because it was low season and the hotel isn't very large. IIRC, you can rent the whole hotel for 8 mil a day. The pool is small, not very clear, and 1.5 m deep, which is a bit much for kids. There was no lifeguard, but it was still acceptable.

This is a beautiful, quiet, private place to relax and enjoy the view. I was really glad I chose this new hotel in Magelang. It had opened in January 2021 and had just seven rooms: 3 deluxe, 2 executive, and 2 family. The service was amazing. The staff were kind, polite, and attentive to little details. I asked reception about renting bikes, and they ended up lending us bicycles for free, after cleaning them for us. Breakfast was tasty. There's no electric kettle, but you can ask for hot water.

We stayed at Chandaka Borobudur July 16-17, 2022, in an Executive Villa booked directly with the property. I mentioned that we were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary, and the staff surprised us with a lovely balloon room decoration and a flower arrangement with simple decor on the dinner table. They also gave us Pea Tea and Banana Split as a complimentary treat at our anniversary dinner. The food was delicious, and based on my experience, I have no doubts about the service, hospitality, or facilities. I have no complaints and will definitely return soon ❤️
