Sari Indah Cottages

The location was pretty good, though some nearby venues had bands playing late into the night. Smoking was allowed outside the rooms, and when people a few doors away lit up, the smoke often drifted into our space, both indoors and out. That was worse than we'd expected, but we had to put up with it. The room was clean enough, but the mattress was awful, soft foam that sagged badly. They agreed to swap it for one from another room. I felt bad for whoever was due to stay there next, and the replacement mattress was so firm it was still uncomfortable, even if it gave more support. It also felt musty, mouldy, and dirty. They don't use mattress protectors. The safe was almost funny: it locked, but was a small, freestanding unit anyone could pick up and carry off. It didn't seem like much care or pride had gone into the place. I definitely wouldn't stay there again.

I stayed here for a month and would definitely come back.

The owners were really friendly, and the location was good. I didn’t bring this up with them because I didn’t want to cause trouble for their business, but the night staff need watching. After we changed rooms, a staff member wore my Hurley bathing shorts. I confronted him with photos of me wearing them, and they were returned. The staff said they’d found them while cleaning the room after we moved. They could simply have returned them or asked whether they were ours, since we were still staying there. It felt like theft, plain and simple. Since then our AirPods have also gone missing. The shorter young guy found both, kept the AirPods, and the other one took the shorts, as far as I can tell. The owners themselves had nothing to do with it. I’m sharing this to help other travelers and to let the owner know it may be time to replace the two boys at reception. I’ve included a photo of the guy wearing my shorts.

Sari Indah Cottages is a nice base for exploring Kuta's sights while still giving you somewhere to relax. It’s close enough to get around, but the setting also feels peaceful when you want to unwind.
