Janur Bungalow

Bobby, the owner, welcomed us warmly and was very nice. The outside is lovely and well kept, with a beautiful swimming pool, though our room was a bit small. Being surrounded by nature means you hear plenty of animal sounds at night. The bathroom is semi-open, so you might get to share a shower with a little frog, like I did. A perfect place to stay before seeing the temple of boroboudur.

Bobby, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable, with a few good stories from the 14 yrs he travelled and worked in europe. We had the place to ourselves for two days. It's a nice romantic spot if you're okay with a rustic stay, like an old wooden beach shack, but with air con, nature sounds, and short muslim prays five times a day.

Bobby and the rest of the team made us feel welcome with their calm, friendly manner, and they made our stay perfect. The place is well looked after, from the lovely plants to the clean pool area. Breakfast was very good too. We had an amazing stay at Janur Bungalow and definitely recommend it.

That floating breakfast was a real highlight, especially for my child, and the staff made us feel so welcome. I’ve stayed at Janur Bungalow twice, including once before the renovation, and I’d happily return. It’s tucked among rice fields in Magelang, so there’s a quiet feel, fresh cool air, and lovely mountain views on clear days. There are only a few bungalows, which helps with privacy. The owner is warm, friendly, and funny. The bathroom and toilet were spotless, with hot water for showers. Rooms were generally clean, though we sometimes found lizard droppings in the corners. The bed is soft and has a mosquito net, but the wooden frame creaks even with small movements. Insects are common by the fields, though the owner provides repellent lotion and electric repellents.
