Breakfast was a real highlight: they made fresh dishes to order, with unlimited à la carte choices instead of a regular buffet. The food was excellent. I also loved the two pools, both with lovely views and a laid-back feel. The room was modern, spotless, and very comfortable. The hotel has only been open a short while, but the scenery, facilities, and service already surpassed what I expected. I heard the grand opening is planned for around July, so I imagine the experience could get even better by then. I had a memorable stay and would recommend it for a luxurious, relaxing break in Ubud, Bali.

What made Hiliwatu Resort feel special was how personal everything was. The team was kind and attentive, and especially Eka and the manager made us feel looked after, almost like we were visiting friends. At a smaller resort, the staff have time to remember you and connect with you. We stayed in both a Villa and a Balcony Suite. The Villa was a luxurious place to unwind in the tropics, while the suite had loads of space and was very comfortable. The resort itself is peaceful and private, with a newly finished design that blends elegant modern style with Balinese touches. I’m looking forward to seeing it after the official grand opening. If you’re in Ubud, I’d recommend Hiliwatu Resort for the design and comfort, but just as much for the genuine hospitality.

The people at Hiliwatu made our four nights feel remarkable. We were treated like family and royalty. Elin was our assigned “butler,” as everyone gets one, and Hendy was a friendly, knowledgeable shuttle driver for trips to and from Ubud. Mahen handled our morning and evening turndown, Nadia at the front desk was always ready to help, “John Cena” was in the kitchen, and Bunda led daily yoga and meditation. Those sessions worked well for beginners and experienced yogis alike. As a Lifetime Platinum member, I’d put this among our best Marriott Portfolio stays, easily a six-star experience. We had a suite and toured the villas; we preferred the suite’s layout, with its couch and table/desk arrangement. Its balcony had a great sunrise view, while the villas sit lower on the hill among more of the jungle. We also liked the shared pool’s lively feel more than having a private one. With only 38 rooms and two levels of infinity pools, it never felt like it would get crowded. The saunas and gym were top quality, even for fitness junkies. Breakfast was world class, and service was even better. The hotel managers came from Marriott Seraya and Mandapa, and it shows. We can’t wait to come back for another over-the-top stay.

The room was so spacious, luxurious, and beautifully kept that we didn’t want to leave. Even sitting on the terrace and taking in the view gave us a real feel for Ubud, with nature all around the property. The infinity pool and views from every room were stunning, and the cozy atmosphere made it easy to relax. As a newly built hotel, everything was spotless and well maintained. The staff were kind and attentive, and the food was delicious at prices that felt fair for the quality. The shuttle to Ubud Center made getting around simple, and there were plenty of hotel activities to keep us occupied. We especially want to thank Elin for taking such good care of us, and General Manager Yudi. We’re grateful to all the staff who made the trip special. I’d love to return with friends or my partner, and would recommend this place for any kind of occasion.

The welcome felt distinctly Balinese, and the signature drink and cool towel were very welcome. The food events were fantastic, the sambal was always fresh and appetizing, and discovering Kintamani coffee was a delight. The spa was luxurious and the service seemed expertly assigned. Yudi, the host and manager, has a way of putting guests at ease, and I think he can make this place work despite the challenge of its quiet, remote natural setting. Elin and Ugung also deserve a mention for their service and humor, which meant a lot. From the start, the staff were thoughtful and attentive, anticipating needs and keeping daily arrangements running smoothly. It felt refined but also personal. Hiilwatu gave me a first-class stay, with warm hospitality and excellent service. It’s more than a destination, and I hope I can return to this little piece of paradise someday.
