The staff and the people there are still fond memories for me, even a year later. Their food was phenomenal, the rooms were very nice, and the overnight jungle hike was impossible to put into words. This was the best choice I made on my honeymoon in Indonesia, even though the whole trip was amazing. Prices were clear from the start and extremely fair, and the service went above and beyond. As a westerner, it was such a relief to get a good price without having to haggle. Fantastic place and people, with memories I won’t forget. Highly recommended.

Amar and his crew were lovely. We did a three-day trek, then spent a day at Bugis Inn. Amar was so welcoming, and I’m really grateful for his hospitality. If you’re in Bukit Lawang, trek with these real jungle boys.

Avoid this place. The rooms are run-down and there’s nowhere to hang clothes. No toilet paper or soap, and the cleaning was very basic. Breakfast costs extra for fruit salad, but you only find that out after eating. The included choices are just coffee and toast or banana pancakes. The owner seemed focused on getting money from guests and selling excursions. We had no sheets or room cleaning, and even the ashtrays weren’t emptied during our three days. The website description is misleading: the property is not beachfront, and the rooms don’t have a “sitting area and bidet.” Be careful and stay somewhere else.

We’d booked three rooms, but the hotel had overbooked and couldn’t accommodate us. The junior manager was aggressive. They refused a refund and threatened us when we asked for our money back. Beware, scammers!
