Muaro Beach Bungalow

The lakeside bungalows are basic but clean, and they're a nice place for a night or two. The bathroom has a Western toilet and a cold water shower. We stayed three days, and the restaurant remained closed. The owner seemed to use it just to feed his own family. It also looked like some locals let their dogs sleep near the houses, so expect to be woken by both dogs and mosque calls.

It's a pretty, peaceful place, probably the best option here if you want quiet, and it may be the only accommodation in the village with a small beach front. The lake isn't very pleasant for swimming because of the green algae. Meals are a short walk away in the village center. The rooms are simple, with lights and just one European type electrical outlet. There's no fan or aircon, but it gets chilly to cold after sunset. Showers are cold, and the simple sitting style toilet is nice. The shower is attached to the room and has an atmospheric view of the sky. Be aware that loud prayer calls from the many mosques start around 4 or 5am.

The bungalows sit right on the beach, with an amazing view, and the prices are very good. I loved the place. The restaurant food is pretty good too, though it can take ages. Once we waited an hour and a half for two simple dishes.

Right by the lake, this is a simple place with a small dug-out canoe available if you want to explore the water. The room was reasonably clean, but the shared area wasn't: tables still had stains from earlier guests and there were lots of ants. It's a bit hard to find, since you have to go through many small alleys, and there aren't many dinner choices nearby.
