Double One Villas Amed II

I don't agree with the 3.8 review. After staying here myself, I felt the villa was well worth the money. Everything was clean and worked well. What I liked most was the clean pool. I don't think they put any chlorine powder in it.

The staff were great, and the area was nice. Our villa had a spacious bathroom and a big kitchen, but neither was in great shape, so we decided not to use either. There are a few decent places to eat and drink nearby. We enjoyed having a large balcony where we could sit with some food and an evening drink.

It may be okay for one night, but I wouldn't recommend booking for several nights or more. It was next to my water activities center and was the only place available for my dates, so I booked it at night because it had a kitchen. There was no hot water or gas because they hadn't checked or refilled it. Since nothing in Amed was open at night, I had to skip dinner because I couldn't cook. They replaced it the next day, but acted as if they were doing me a favor. They didn't clean the room, change towels, or take the trash, and there was no bin or other place to put it. I know it's cheap, but taking the rubbish away is basic. I asked several times and got a smile and a "sure, sure," but nothing happened. There was no soap either, so bring your own. The internet had two lines, but I couldn't even open my email. The pool looked nice, but I wouldn't use it. Around ten staff live by the reception area in front of it and stared at me as a group. The same happened when I got my bike: two of them came running over and watched me the whole time until I left, with a weird smile. It's cheap and well located, but I didn't like the rest.

The staff were what made our stay memorable. Everyone worked hard to make us feel welcome, and Gede Gitox was especially kind and attentive, always going out of his way to help. Double One Villas Two is just steps from Lipah Beach. The villas are a little worn but comfortable and charming for the price, set in a lovely tropical garden. The clean pool was inviting after a day by the beach. Having a kitchen was another bonus: we could cook eggs in the morning, make fresh coffee, or prepare fish bought directly from the fishermen on the beach. It's an affordable, relaxed place to stay in Amed, made special by the people who run it.
