Iluh was the person who made this stay memorable for me. She was warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming, and her natural hospitality made a real difference. The beachfront was affected by government construction, with large stones being dumped from around 8am. The noise was constant and noticeable, which made a quiet seaside stay difficult. We only heard about it at check-in. Guests should be told before arrival so they can set their expectations. The booking process felt basic and transactional. It wasn’t unfriendly, but it didn’t feel welcoming or build any anticipation. The property itself is fine, though service felt functional rather than attentive. I expected something more personal from a resort. Would I return? Probably not.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, with genuine smiles and helpful hospitality. We also loved the food. Every meal was fresh, nicely presented and full of flavor, and the quality and variety consistently impressed us. The resort has an intimate boutique feel, with beautiful design and a local atmosphere. It doesn’t feel like a huge, soulless hotel chain. Lush forest nearby and the sounds of nature made the setting especially calming. Candi Beach Resort & Spa was a highlight of our Bali trip, a peaceful place to get away from the crowds. We can’t wait to return.

Virgin Beach, where the hotel gives you a ride, was just perfect for me. I like a more deserted beach, calm waves and a bit of structure to enjoy it. It was one of the best beaches I’ve been to here, as a few pictures show. I arrived a little disappointed by the work at the beach, but the place, the facilities and the kindness of the hotel employees completely won me over. Everything was outstanding. Krisna, Ani, Ari, Wira and many others treated us really well.

We booked Candi Beach Resort & Spa in September 2025 for a March 2026 stay, based on its repeated advertising of peaceful beachfront surroundings and beautiful sea views, including in the booking confirmation. The hotel didn’t tell us that major coastal construction and beach closures would later disrupt the beach directly in front of the resort. We found out through social media ourselves, not from the hotel. The resort is still posting calm beach and paradise-style scenes on social media and in promotional material, even though they don’t reflect the current situation. Guests are still being encouraged to book an experience the hotel knows has been significantly affected. The work may be government-led, but I found the hotel’s handling of it disgraceful. We contacted them multiple times to try to resolve things. They refused a refund and kept citing the non-refundable policy, even while acknowledging the beach was closed. They apparently didn’t realize I know my rights. We did not check in on the booking date. Other guests have mentioned being asked to sign waivers at check-in about the beach situation. Anyone affected should think carefully before checking in and, if necessary, ask their Visa or Mastercard provider about their options. The hotel agreed to refund us only after we raised a chargeback dispute with our card provider. Weeks after it was raised, I got two emails within hours of each other. First, they said there was no refund due because we hadn’t checked in and the booking was non-refundable. A few hours later, they said management had re-reviewed the case and agreed to refund us as a gesture of goodwill. The timing was funny, given that our card provider had already contacted them about the dispute. They said the refund would arrive within 14-28 days, but it never came from the hotel in that timeframe. We ultimately got it through the chargeback process via our bank. We’re repeat guests at Maya Ubud Resort & Spa, which staff had told us is a sister property under the same management. We’ve always loved Maya Ubud, but this experience seriously damaged my trust in the wider group, and I’ll think hard before booking with them again. Continuing to market a tranquil beachfront paradise while knowing the beach experience is massively affected seems like a very dangerous game. Future guests should research very carefully before booking. I hope this review helps people, because I think what the hotel is doing is very wrong. If you read my reviews, you’ll see I always try to be fair and reasonable.
