Canggu Bona Kubu

The view was nice, and there's a good little warung next door. The guesthouse is near the main road. The room and guesthouse could have been cleaner, and the pool wasn't clean. Most guests seemed to be foreign travelers on a budget, and they were pretty noisy at night, though that's not the owner's fault.

This is the worst place I've ever stayed. I checked in at 1 am and was out by 8 am. Cars can't even get down the alley where this dump is. They gave me an old, dingy, smelly blue towel, and the photos online must be from when the place first opened. If you're on a serious budget, like borderline homeless, maybe come here. Otherwise, run, crawl, sprint, drive, do whatever you can to stay away.

The staff are friendly, and the place is clean. It's a pretty little guesthouse, but I marked it down because towels were changed only once in four days, and you also have to use those towels at the pool. There was no bottled water for the bathroom, no fridge in any room, and I couldn't find one for guest use. Breakfast is advertised as light, with toast, fruit on some days, and coffee, but no juice or water. It's available until 11 am, though served in the sun, which wasn't pleasant. I'd have liked to be closer to the beach and to more restaurants.

I only spent one night here. The place was really quiet, next to rice fields, and the pool was lovely. Rooms were clean and the aircon worked well. Just be aware that breakfast was more like fruit and cake with coffee and tea than a proper breakfast.
