D'Canggu Homestay

We booked for the good location but left after one night instead of staying two. It was really disgusting, and nothing like the photos. I've been backpacking around Asia on and off since 2019, and this was bad. The bathroom smelled awful, even the water did. The shower head only leaked, so I had to wash using a bottle. The toilet paper was wet, and the bum gun smelled like feces. I left feeling dirtier and ended up using toilets outside the hotel because the bathroom was so bad. The sheets and towels were dirty, the bedsheets were damp, and the floor and the whole stay felt grim. I'm not sure the bathroom had been cleaned between guests for a very long time. The staff were nice, but I don't know who cleans the rooms.

The location is a real plus, close to the beach and only a few steps from the busy main street. The room is fairly big, with minimal furniture and not many places to plug things in. The bathroom looks old and filthy, and definitely needs renovation. It didn't look at all like the booking photos. The pillows and towels also had brownish stains.

It was so quiet at night that you couldn't hear a sound, even though the hotel is near Canggu beach and some of the main bars. The pool was lovely, the staff were always helpful, and the AC worked well. You can pay to have laundry done, and it comes back smelling amazing. The bathroom could use a little refresh, but the rest of the room was 11/10. Everything about this hotel was perfect, definitely our favorite in Bali.

We spent five nights here and had an amazing experience. There’s a relaxed vibe, and the staff are warm and welcoming. They can arrange taxis and rent out bikes. The shared kitchen has filtered drinking water and a communal fridge. The rooms are a little dated and could use some TLC, but for the price it’s incredible value. I’d recommend it 100%!
