We paid but chose not to stay the night. There was a noticeable damp smell on arrival, and the room didn't feel welcoming. The bathroom was very basic in a bad way, with what seemed like an old kitchen sink placed in the bedroom instead of the bathroom. The sink and nearby surface needed a better clean, and the bed blankets were quite old. We usually stay in hostels, even very simple ones, but this homestay didn't meet our expectations. Payment is in cash, as noted on Booking, though we hadn't noticed that, so make sure to bring it.

The location is very good, but everything in the room was old and needs repairing.

Our first night in Bali started with a rough check-in at 3am. We were told we had to go to an ATM and couldn't pay in the morning, even though it was the middle of the night and we didn't know where an ATM was. Limited English is fine, but the lack of manners wasn't. There were about five bags, and nobody helped us carry them to the room. After we settled in, we were knocked on twice after 3am, first for towels and then for water. Those things were useful, but we were trying to sleep. At 10:50 the next morning, we got another knock reminding us checkout was at 11. When my boyfriend tried to check out, he was dismissed. We were glad it was only one night. It was a very rude welcome and a poor first impression of Bali.

For 420 000, we paid for two nights for two people. The location was really good, the price was fair for Canggu, and the air conditioning worked well, though we couldn't set the temperature, so I kept turning it on and off. The people were nice, and it could suit budget travelers without high expectations. The room felt damp and not very clean. The neighbors were really noisy, possibly three workers in the next room, and we could hear the water pump every 20 minutes as well as people in the street. The pillow was much too big, so I used my towel to sleep on. There was only a bedsheet, no blanket, so I had to sleep in pants and a jumper.
