Villa Wirtiga

The worst part of our stay at Villa Wirtiga in Canggu was being kept awake by construction. Power tools started around 8am every morning, made a piercing racket until night, and sometimes carried on after dark. The villa sat right next to an active building site, and the workers could see straight into our courtyard, pool, and even bathroom. We felt exposed, with none of the peace or privacy we expected. We tried to spend time away from the villa to get some relief, but that meant unexpected, expensive trips to busy beach clubs. It was the opposite of the quiet, restorative Bali break we had pictured. We also woke each day with clusters of bites all over us, which seemed unmistakably like bedbugs and left us uncomfortable and anxious. The photos online and in the promotional materials showed a lovely, well-kept villa, nothing like the dilapidated place we found. Development is part of Canggu, but management should be upfront and warn guests about conditions like these. At the very least, a much lower rate should have been offered for what we went through. Between the noise, loss of privacy, misleading portrayal, and possible health hazard, the whole stay was a traumatic ordeal. I urge anyone considering this villa to think twice unless these problems are fixed. We arrived excited for what was supposed to be a tranquil, luxurious escape from everyday life. Instead, the stay at Villa Wirtiga left us profoundly disappointed and our hopes for a peaceful retreat in ruins.

It's a lovely, luxurious villa in Canggu, near the beach and restaurants. The place was clean and fully equipped, and the staff were kind and friendly.
