Villa Tegal Tis Ubud

This little family-run place is a lovely escape from Ubud's frantic tourism, and they can shuttle you into town if needed. It has five small villas set in a cared-for tropical garden, with a large deck, pool, and outdoor dining area. Rooms are clean and fresh, the beds are comfortable, and breakfast is included. The menu has a tasty range of food at good prices, and the staff are attentive and really friendly. Highly recommend.

The staff are so friendly and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are always spotless and welcoming when I return, and I can't fault how they're presented. Tegal Tis has come to feel like a second home since I first stayed here when it opened. It's a lovely place to unwind and get to know Bali, with easy access to Ubud on the shuttle from the property. I highly recommend it.

We booked all five Tegaltis Villa units for our group for one night. They're similar in size and amenities, with clean rooms and cozy porches. The big pool and deck, dining space overlooking the water, and open pantry for basic cooking made it a good place to gather. Check-in was easy, and the friendly staff helped with our bags and brought welcome drinks. We asked for extra breakfast and got several choices in the shared dining area. You may hear some noise from nearby cafés and adventure shops during the day, but it wasn't too loud and things quieted down at night. The car park is a short walk away, which was manageable. We'd gladly return and recommend the villa to friends.

The friendly staff tried hard, but that couldn't make up for how disappointing the property was. We ended up booking somewhere else to salvage our holiday, at extra cost. The alternative was cheaper per day than Villas Tegal Tis and offered more than twice the quality. The price we paid here felt completely out of line with what we got. The Airbnb listing gave a very different impression from the actual condition. The whole villa was outdated and in disrepair. On arrival, we found previous guests' rubbish in the bins, including what looked like a moldy tampon, and a cockroach among the silverware and plates. There was no hot water, and no water at all from the kitchen sink. The white linens were old and discolored, towels had holes, the rattan table had visible holes, the chairs were dirty, and the beds squeaked. The kitchen was outright dirty, with pans so old and filthy it was hard to understand why they were still there. During the day, ATV engines revved constantly and loud music came from the neighboring adventure company, so it was nothing like the quiet oasis advertised. I understand the villa is in the jungle, but hundreds of ants inside and outside the rooms, feeding on other dead insects, were excessive.
