Zamrud Cirebon

It’s an old hotel, but still a decent place to visit.

The staff were great, from the front desk and parking attendant to the dining team, and our executive room was very large. The shower had very hot water, almost too hot, and a curtain. Breakfast was a good Indonesian spread, though not so appealing for a bull American like me. The morning buffet coffee was the best I’d had in a few years. My wife and I drove 4-1/2 hours from Garut for the weekend in Cirebon on 1&2 Feb 2020. Noise was the big problem. Our first room had a very loud air conditioner, so after we complained they moved us from room 218 to room 301. The pool is in another building outside, which is inconvenient to reach, and it’s open to outside guests. There were well over 60 children there at all times. The hotel is near a mosque, so you WILL be woken up, and a band played and sang loudly in the lobby past 10 o’clock. Even though we were on the top floor, the sound carried up the large staircase. I can NOT recommend it to anyone who needs to sleep during the day because of the pool noise or at night because of the band and mosque.

It’s easy to find since it’s right in town, and the rooms have plenty of space. The hotel feels old-fashioned, but breakfast was good, especially the delicious empal gentong.

For a standard hotel, I’d give it two stars. It also has two ballrooms that are usually used for graduation events.
