Emerald Villa D-3

The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were friendly and kept everything clean and tidy. It’s a short walk to the beach, some great bars and restaurants, and a small supermarket for essentials. For the price, it’s very good value and I’d stay again. I had an apartment that was adequately furnished, with a great kitchen. The bathroom and balcony felt a bit dated and could use a refresh. This place may suit a longer stay especially well, which seemed to be the case for some of the other guests.

The location is great, close to Sanur Beach, about a 10-minute walk, as well as restaurants and shops. The villa also felt very secure. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the lady looking after us was so nice. The Emerald staff were wonderful and can only work with what they’re given, so my complaint is about the owners and upkeep, not them. We’ve stayed in this four-bedroom Villa D4 many times, but this visit was very disappointing. It’s a good size for a family, yet needs a lot of maintenance. The pool area especially needs retiling, with black mould between the tiles and around the edges. Much of the paving is cracked and could be unsafe if children are playing in the pool area. The limestone around all the outdoor showers was black and mouldy, so we couldn’t use them. It was disgusting. It feels like the owners aren’t willing to spend on upkeep or put some TLC back into the villa. Sorry, but we won’t come back.

The staff were lovely, very helpful, and apologetic about things beyond their control. The location is fantastic. This review is about B14 only, I can’t speak for the other villas in the complex. The booking app photos clearly show the villa when it was first built, but it’s now incredibly run down and old. The bedrooms shown with TVs had none. There were broken bathroom tiles, lots of mould, and a rusty fridge that looks about 20 years old. The tiled floors may once have been stunning, but they show years of wear now. The whole villa needs painting and a general facelift. It’s currently for sale, so I’m guessing the owner doesn’t want to spend money on it, while still charging premium prices.

Although it’s only a short walk into town, it’s quiet and peaceful once you’re through the entrance, and the villas feel very secure. They’re spacious, beautifully fitted out, and have everything you need. The kitchen is especially well equipped if you want to cook for yourself, and having a private pool of your own is almost too much. Reception and concierge staff were kind and helpful, and housekeeping were incredibly attentive to detail. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. In fact, I can’t wait to come back.
