Balitone Residence by OYO Rooms

There’s no elevator in this three-floor guest house, and breakfast isn’t included. The indoor pool and decent-sized parking area were useful. The room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable, but the toilet and bathroom were dirty. The price is fairly low, so you get what you pay for. It’s in a neighborhood, so renting a motorcycle or car would make getting around easier.

The pool is right outside our room, and for what we paid, this simple hotel felt worth it. It’s away from the touristy area, so getting food means a 20-25 minute walk to the handful of Warung across the street. Passing vehicles are noisy, but we could still sleep. Good value for the money.

I’ve stayed in lots of places around Bali, and this is my favorite. BaliTone sits just far enough from the usual tourist route to feel local, while still being close to most things. The prices are fair and the pool is always clean. I’ve been here a month, and I’ll stay at BaliTone again after my two months in Java. Tory, the owner, takes time to get to know residents without hovering. The hospitality feels nicely balanced. I spent a lot of time at the desk shown in my photos. My wife to be, with just five days to go, is pictured by the BaliTone sign and a small temple two doors down on the left as you leave BaliTone. It makes a good Bali photo spot. There are a couple of little shops nearby for basics. I recommend the one half a block up on the right. Across from it, there’s a good restaurant with local and Western food, plus beer at a good price. A few minutes up the road to the left you’ll find several warungs, a larger shop, and ATMs, making for a nice evening stroll. At the Y, turn right to find several markets with fresh fruit. I hope you enjoy staying here as much as I did!
