De Lemon Gatsu Hotel

I paid for a room this afternoon for a friend of my husband. When he came to check in this evening, there was no receptionist. He waited 30 minutes, then went to another hotel. He still hasn’t been refunded.

It’s a budget hotel with just 8 rooms and no pool. The view wasn’t good, but it was fine for spending the night. The room was small, especially the bathroom.

This place was a waste of time and money. I booked online for a convenient overnight stay while I was in town on business for a day, but it’s on the north side of Denpasar and isn’t really a hotel. It has 6 rooms in a local "village" type area, with no facilities or restaurants, and not even a nearby warung. The staff barely spoke English, so I had to get my taxi driver to talk with them. I paid them 100,000 Rp, but they reported me as a no show. I ended up staying in Kuta.

The hotel itself is quite nice, but the WiFi was terrible, even by Bali standards, like 1990's dial up. We were promised international TV channels, but even the local channels didn’t work. We stayed because family were at our home for the wedding and the hotel was between the church and home. During our stay, the room was cleaned only once, and that was when we were robbed. We met the owners, who told us not to involve the police and said we’d be refunded for the stolen goods while the thief was investigated. But when we checked out, the thief was still there to greet us, and we were told there’d be no refund. I’ve stayed at hotels around Bali and the world and have never been robbed before. I’d advise choosing another hotel in Denpasar unless you’re fine with poor service and having your belongings taken.
