The dogs were another serious problem. The hotel keeps one as a pet, and it barked at me the first night, which scared me. Sometimes it was allowed to roam around. I even saw it go up to the second floor, enter an open room, and climb onto the bed. Dogs from other homes along the lane were also often loose. They barked and chased me when I walked past, after their owners opened the gates and let them onto the road. I think the hotel should ask those neighbors to keep their dogs behind closed gates for guests’ safety and peace of mind. My room had a constant unpleasant bathroom smell, so I usually kept the window open. That didn’t feel safe either, because a scary ladder reached all the way up to it. The view from the window was awful too, as one of the photos shows. In the bathroom, the towel had little holes, there was someone’s cigarette on the window, the door was coming apart and wouldn’t stay attached to the wall or close, and the shampoo and body wash dispensers were empty. The bed was in bad shape as well. I’m pretty sure the sheets hadn’t been changed after the previous guest, and I got a fungal infection after sleeping on them. I also saw the housekeeping man “clean” after another guest left without bringing in or taking out any sheets. On a different night, a female employee and her daughter came to sleep in one of the rooms, and the sheets weren’t changed before or after them either. There were round cigarette holes in my sheets, and no mattress protector. The air conditioner didn’t cool the room at all, even though it made its usual sound and I think it was set to 16 degrees when I arrived. On the first night, it started dripping on me because it was right above the bed, so I stopped trying to use it. I could tell things were going badly from the moment I walked in. The main bulb was out, leaving the room dark, and there was no toilet paper. I asked the male employee to fix this, and he said “Tomorrow.” Neither the bulb was fixed nor the toilet paper brought the next day, even though I stayed for a week. The second-floor hallway lights went out one by one too, leaving us in darkness.

We arrived without a booking and checked the beds for bugs right away. Sure enough, we found them in the first room, then got moved to another one and found the same problem there. It didn’t seem to surprise them. When we said we wanted to leave, they offered only half our money back after 15 minutes, but after we got a bit angry, they gave us a full refund.

Good spot, affordable, and the people are friendly.
