POP! Hotel Denpasar

The room was clean and spacious, and the Denpasar location was convenient, close to lots of food stalls and a fresh market. Facilities were fairly complete, including a pool and fitness center.

We were booked into the newer of the hotel's two buildings, which has a new interior. The room felt a little more compact, with something of an airport hotel feel. It had central AC, and I suspect that kind of system made me prone to a sore throat. On day three I started sneezing and had a runny nose. My immune system may not have been great then either, but even at the lowest setting, around 25 or so, the AC seemed to make the sore throat worse. I think the hotel should check the central AC regularly for dust or particles.

The rooms are tiny, service was awful, and breakfast was lousy. Check-in took 30 minutes while they searched for my reservation and typed endlessly. I handed in laundry at 7 a.m.; by 6:30 p.m. it still hadn't come back, and the front desk said they'd bring it that evening. Nothing was in the room by midnight. I called reception the next morning and was told it would be delivered, but after another 30 minutes I went down and collected it myself. It was sitting right at reception. What lousy service. Breakfast was cheap, unhealthy stuff: one cereal, chocolate pops, no yogurt, and so on. That's what I'd expect at a one-star hotel, not one claiming to be four-star.

The hospitality was great, and they helped me check in early and check out late, as long as the room was available. My room and bathroom were clean, and the hairdryer was already installed in the bathroom, so I didn't need to ask for one. I had a great time at Harris Hotel. Thanks for having me.
