Samana Residence

After a long trip in the heat, I arrived wanting to check in, only to be told the bedroom door was broken. I asked to cancel, but they handed me a hotel card and told me to call the admin and agent myself. What is the front office there for? They should contact the agent instead of making things harder for guests who just want to relax. I still haven’t got my money back. This hotel is a mess, please don’t come!

At least the hotel is on a quiet, green street. The room itself had no spare outlet: one plug was used by the TV and the other by the fridge, so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. The shower produced barely a trickle, even at full power, and there was mold on the walls and ceiling. We asked twice for tissues because there were none. Staff said they’d bring some, but we never received any.

The location is a real highlight, in a quiet, clean, upscale neighborhood. Inside, everything was squeaky clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The owner also wanted to know how she could improve the place. I often find that old reviews don’t match what I experience, since places can go downhill, but that wasn’t the case here. I think this place will only get better. I usually write a lot, but I’ll keep it short: two thumbs way up.

I don’t get where the good reviews are coming from. This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Our sheets were dirty and we had to ask for clean ones. There were bugs and little flies everywhere, and the sink and shower head were caked with limescale and didn’t look clean. Thank goodness we stayed just one night. Don’t be fooled by the pictures!
