The pool was a real highlight, especially with its colorful lights at night, and the room exteriors had lovely ornate patterns on the doors and roof corners. Staff were helpful and cheerful, with someone always at reception around the clock. There was a small pug there who seemed happy to be petted, as well as a very young puppy and a newborn litter of cats. Nearby, the area had a good mix of market shops, restaurants serving different cuisines, and bars and pubs, though hardly any seemed to have more than three or four customers in a night. The room itself was very poor for the price, which felt steep next to other places we'd checked or stayed at. The shower pressure and temperature were awful, the toilet was broken on arrival, and the bathroom needed a very deep clean. The sheets and towels felt dirty. Cockroaches were in the bathroom, with dead ones behind the bedside table and in the shower. Security was weak: the doors had flimsy padlocks looped through the handles, with enough space to open them and see the whole room. There was no safe or lockbox. Thin walls also meant we heard every conversation and other noises from next door.
