Tamukami Hotel

Icon is right across the road, but the hotel is tucked down a street, so I didn’t hear the hustle and bustle. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was great. I was impressed by the little clothing shop. I’m good at bargaining, but the beach market stalls and local shops didn’t go lower than the prices marked there. Breakfast was simple but nice, and the pork ribs fell right off the bone. Our suite was huge, with a massive bed, and the pool was the perfect temperature. I’ll definitely book here again when I’m back in Bali later this year.

The location really makes this place stand out. Right across from Icon Mall, it’s surrounded by shops, restaurants and spas. Head left for the mall’s stores and food, then walk through it and you come out at the beach. We had one of our best meals at the mall steakhouse. There’s also a nice little restaurant at the hotel, an adorable pool and a lovely vibe. It feels like a little piece of heaven in the middle of everything.

We got brown water for one day, and the hotel is old, so you might want to reconsider if cleanliness is a big concern for you. Still, I was happy with the price and service. It’s in a perfect location, the pool is lovely and quiet, and the staff are kind and friendly.

This family-run hotel has wonderful traditions, but you’ll only hear about them if you ask. Nobody bothers you unless you want something. Susan, the owner, still stays here and has the warmest heart, like your mom. It feels like home, and the price is small. The room was clean and didn’t smell of old wood or an old building, and the bed was nice and strong. The air conditioning was great. The cleaning staff are all boys, and three of them cleaned your room at the same time every day, up to European standards. Breakfast portions might not satisfy someone with a big appetite, but they could still fit your daily needs. If you want more, just ask. They’re more than happy to give it to you. What do you really need, to fill yourself with breakfast, or enough to get on with your day? I know the answer.
