The Meru Sanur

The two pools were both lovely, though we preferred the quieter, less crowded Meru pool. Meru Sanur had plenty of activities each day for adults and children, so there was always something to do on site. We also enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea, canapés, and photoshoot. Even with a busy lobby on arrival, Asri kindly took us straight to our room and helped us check in, which was especially helpful with our young child. Bas was wonderful when our child fell during breakfast. He promptly helped us get to the in-house doctor and showed real care, then gave our child a flower vase that brought a smile to her face. Later, other reception staff asked how she was doing. That attentiveness made us feel valued. The service stood out across our two-night stay, and we’d love to return.

I’ve stayed at The Meru several times and still look forward to coming back. The location is beautiful, the facilities are excellent, and the service is consistently warm and attentive. This morning the shaded loungers were all taken while we were by the pool, so Pak Agung Adi helped move one into the shade for me. It was a small but thoughtful kindness, and his friendliness made our stay even nicer. Thanks, Pak Agung Adi, for making the last part of our visit memorable. We look forward to returning.

The breakfast was one of the best parts of our stay, with delicious food and a huge range of choices, served from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The rooms and facilities were excellent, and The Meru Sanur is beautiful, elegant, luxurious, and very well maintained. But it was extremely crowded and noisy while we were there, with guests around all the time and some areas feeling overwhelming. Most guests were older travelers and Europeans, so personally, I don’t think the atmosphere is the best fit for Arab travelers looking for something different. Given the high price, I expected things to feel more comfortable and less crowded. A lovely luxury hotel with a great breakfast, but the noise and crowds were a downside for me.

Arya’s Sunset yoga class started with easy stretches and breathing, then moved into more challenging poses. His calm, almost hypnotic voice made it a lovely session. Oka’s beginner boxing class was fantastic too. We started with the basics, moved on to shadow boxing, and finished with pad work. I could ask plenty of questions about the sport, and he answered in detail, drawing on his own time in the ring and growing up with his coaches. Thanks again, Oka and Arya!
