The Village Home

We booked the wrong day and noticed within 10 minutes, but the app wouldn’t let us change the dates, so we were told to contact the hotel. We called and got confirmation over the phone that the reservation dates had been updated. When we arrived, though, they said the booking was still for the original dates and wouldn’t let us check in, even though they had empty rooms. They kept apologising for the miscommunication but wouldn’t do anything to fix it. We were really disappointed. The place felt strict and greedy, exactly the kind of energy we come to Bali to get away from.

The pool is on the small side, but there’s enough room to swim laps, and you can enjoy the river view behind the property. The location is great, walking distance to the beach and quiet, away from the main tourist areas, but still a short drive to Living World Mall, grocery stores and restaurants. The staff are always amazing. Beds are very comfortable, rooms have large TVs with local digital channels, and there’s plenty of closet and storage space for a longer stay. My one complaint is the lack of hot water. There’s a big tub, big enough for 2, but not enough warm water.

We had a relaxing evening in the bathtub with the TV on, then headed to the pool first thing in the morning before looking for breakfast nearby. The place feels stylish and comfortable. There was a family gathering by the pool while we were there, but it didn't bother us. The staff mentioned it at check-in in case it caused any inconvenience, which was thoughtful. We'd definitely come back.

My room was clean and roomy enough, and being on the second floor in a corner meant I had a lovely view. The employees were warm and helpful. They even printed a document for me for free, thank you! I'd happily stay at The Village home again next time I'm in Bali.
