Rahya Villas Complex

The apartment had loads of space, a comfortable bed, clean shower, equipped kitchen, two TVs, a huge fridge, microwave, and plenty more. The view was fantastic, and the price felt very fair. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful too. I did have two small complaints. I paid extra for a room with a balcony, but it wasn't attached to the room. You had to go up a level to reach it, so that fee didn't feel justified. Also, the water pressure in both the shower and bathtub was surprisingly low, especially compared with much cheaper places I've stayed in Bali. Still, I had a great stay and would gladly return.

The villa looked stylish and new, and the night security were very friendly, as were the Bali dogs. That was about the only good part of our stay from 3-5 April. Four of the five villas were unfinished, and the area itself was a construction site. The hotel 10 meters away was also a huge building site. There was dust and a view of construction, with noise starting at 8 am. Dust had settled inside our villa too, which wasn't comfortable to live in. The sink leaked, the shower was awkward and had no towel hooks, and the fan remotes didn't work. The electricity ran out after 30 minutes. From the terrace, we looked onto construction. Workers were everywhere, so we had to close all the bathroom curtains, and a manager's workplace was right at the master bedroom window. The flowers were wilted when we arrived, the toilet door wouldn't close, the fruit wasn't fit to eat, and there was water on the toilet floor. No tea bags or coffee either. The service and attitude were the worst we'd experienced in Bali. We arrived at 13:40, saw the construction, and asked to see the villa. The manager was quite rude, saying check-in was at 15:00, their construction had stopped, and the neighbors weren't doing loud work because they were on holiday. He told us to wait at their restaurant, a 12-minute drive away. At 15:00 the villa still wasn't ready. The receptionist just asked us to wait without explaining anything. We asked her to explain and call the manager. After 45 minutes we finally got in, but the manager neither explained anything nor apologized. There's no nearby infrastructure at the complex except the reception and two chairs. We left early the next morning and came back at 14:30 to sleep. At 15:40 staff rang the doorbell for five minutes until they woke us, asking whether we wanted cleaning even though they had our WhatsApp. The parking area is also too small. When we arrived, a car and bikes were in the way, and nobody helped move them or greeted us, despite the receptionist seeing us.

There isn't much within walking distance apart from a lovely group of beaches, but downtown Uluwatu is easy to reach by Grab or Gojeck. We liked this place so much that, halfway to Canggu, we booked RAYYA again and turned back. We've travelled through Asia for nearly every holiday, and this is still our favorite spot. The villa is thoughtfully put together and has everything you could need. Even the lighting and fluffy towels felt just right. The staff were brilliant, always helpful and ready to go beyond what was needed. When we had a couple of issues in our unit, someone came to fix them within seconds. On NYE they even welcomed us with a beautiful gift basket. Can't wait to return!
