Ama-Lurra Resort

The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and the stay was very successful. The private villa had its own pool and was in a quiet, peaceful area in the northwestern part of Gili. There’s a private beachfront with free sun loungers for guests, and several very good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was fine, but I’d head toward town for other meals, where there are better dining options. A few things in the villa could be improved, though they didn’t affect our comfort overall. I’m personally not keen on open-air bathrooms because of mosquitoes and other insects.

A couple of things could have been better. Bugs, little caterpillar-like things, fell off the apartment roof into the pool every day around 4 pm. About 30-40 would end up there between 4 and 6. Reception would send someone to clean the pool when we called, but I wonder if something could be put over the roof to stop them falling in. The restaurant was also closed for refurbishment, even though we had breakfast booked. We would have preferred to eat at the hotel, but they arranged our pre-booked breakfasts at a restaurant down the road. Aside from that, it was a lovely stay at a place right on the beachfront. The staff were so kind and welcoming, and couldn’t do enough for us. It was a lovely way to end our two months of travel. Thank you!

The private pool and sunset view were stunning, and the villa was beautiful, clean, and so peaceful. We had the best stay at Ama Lurra Resort. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, with great service. Special thanks to Mrs. Else for being so kind and welcoming. We’d definitely love to come back!

The villa was pleasant and in a quieter part of the island, but our last night turned the stay into a nightmare. One day before checkout, someone broke into the villa and stole money from the locked safe. We were shocked and can’t understand how that could happen inside the property. When we asked to see CCTV footage, we were told there are cameras only at reception. The receptionist tried their best to help, but management never contacted us or proactively investigated what happened. We were also told this wasn’t the first incident, which makes it even more concerning. The lack of security and management involvement after valuables were taken from a locked safe on the property is unacceptable. Guests should think carefully before staying, and I’d warn future guests not to leave valuables in the safe because it can’t be relied on.
