Damai Bungalows

I would not recommend this place. We stayed in room Nr 5, where my girlfriend developed itchy spots all over her body and had to see a doctor. We checked the bed several times but didn't spot the bedbugs at check-in. The mosquito net had lots of dark, bloody marks. Staff told us they'd had bedbugs before, and I think the net hadn't been changed since then. When we first complained, the owner seemed helpful and offered another room and to wash our clothes as hot as possible. The clothes came back cold, still dirty and smelling awful, so we had to wash them again. He also dropped one of the bugs we'd shown him onto the floor, where it could have crawled into our belongings. After moving to room Nr 7, we found a bedbug crawling on the floor. The next day, the owner tried to blame us for bringing the bugs in. We've been traveling for almost two years, checking reviews and beds each time, and never had this kind of problem. This was one of the worst places we've stayed. Room Nr 5 was dark and poorly cleaned. Its outdoor shower was full of leaves and seeds from the trees, though Bungalow no 7 was much better. The pool was also so dirty that we couldn't swim.

The beach is just across a path, and the breakfasts were excellent. This is a small, secluded resort with stylish bamboo cottages and a decent-length pool that was very clean. The French owner was kind, and the staff were pleasant, courteous and friendly.

A nice place on Gili Air, a good distance from the harbour, with friendly staff. The beds were nice, the AC worked well, and the pool was nice too. Staff can arrange trips such as snorkeling or a fast boat to Bali.

The location worked perfectly, away from the crowded center but still close to food, shops and activities. The place was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. Jacques gave us lots of helpful advice about island activities and restaurants.
