Gili Air Escape

The people are what make Gili Escape memorable. Sapar, Tohri, Den, Faruk, Ajik, and Ocan made us feel at home with their kindness and care. I rarely come across hospitality that feels so genuine. It’s also in a quiet part of Gili Air, though just a 5-minute bike ride from what you need. The pool is huge and well kept, with flowers all around, and the room and bed were 10/10.

The cabins are spacious, well equipped, and cleaned daily. The air conditioning worked really well, which mattered a lot in this climate. The bathroom is partly open to the outdoors, so geckos and other creatures can sometimes get in. The geckos help with mosquitoes, at least. We did have a very large spider in there once, and it was distressing, but staff came to deal with it even though it was past midnight. We spent a little time at the pool after breakfast or before dinner. It gets very warm, but the design is nice and the plants around the property give it a lovely island feel. The location worked well for exploring the whole island, and bicycles are available for a small fee to get to the beaches quickly. From arrival to departure, the staff looked after us well. They chatted with us, asked about our plans, and offered tips. We felt comfortable and would come back.

After touring the island, we’d put this among its best hotels. It’s modern, clean, comfortable, and convenient, with interesting places nearby. The mosque is far enough away that it didn’t disturb us much at night. Recommended!

Ocan, Tohri, Ajik, Sapar, and Den were incredibly kind and friendly. We had a great stay, and liked both the room and the pool area.
