Sandy Beach Bungalows

The location is right by the beach, with easy access to reefs and turtle grazing areas, so it's ideal if you like snorkeling or marine life. We’ve been to Gili Air before, and this was easily one of our favorite places. There's also a pleasant walk of about 10 minutes to the eastern strip of bars and entertainment. Breakfast was just the right amount to keep us going into the afternoon: a choice of omelettes or eggs with toast, fruit, and a drink. Jann and his team were welcoming, helpful, and hilarious. Their sense of humor made the stay memorable, and they answered all our questions without hesitation. The rooms were clean, but a few things could be better. The door curtains provided privacy, but they weren't practical because we had to open them for each other and ask our other halves to close them. A curtain attached to the door might work better. The exposed air-conditioning pipes weren't a problem in themselves, but moisture buildup had caused visible mold. They need re-sheathing and taping. The mattresses were firm, which was fine, though they could be better quality. This is still an excellent spot, and we'd absolutely stay again. One thing to keep in mind: the guys like to hang out by the pool after their shifts. I didn't mind, but if you need quiet to sleep, I'd suggest booking away from the pool.

We’ve already told our friends about Sandy Beach Bungalows on Gili Air, and we’ll definitely return. The staff were outstanding, nothing was ever too much trouble, and they even arranged a private boat to collect us right out front and take us to Lombok. The themed restaurant evenings are worth catching, and breakfast was exceptional. The traditional-style rooms were charming and comfortable, and the pool was stunning. The setting couldn't be better: after breakfast, we could walk straight into the sea and swim with turtles in warm, crystal-clear water. Dave and Jayne.

The location is what you pay for. Staff were good, and the included breakfast had good pancakes. The WiFi was poor, they should invest in a Starlink like many places nearby. The bungalows aren't the best.

The restaurant area is right on the beach, and the bathrooms are spacious and nice. The bungalows have air conditioning and mosquito nets, but you can hear the neighbors. There's no way to make coffee or cook anything in them.
