The staff are the reason we’ll come back. They always greeted us with smiles and asked about our day. They even cut open an ‘old’ coconut for us to eat, then left another one cut up outside our room after dinner and two young coconuts ready in the fridge for breakfast. Breakfast was included and a great start to the day, with eggs your way, pancakes, fruit, and coffee. The staff and grounds were phenomenal and always well looked after. Our cottage was a great budget choice for our family of two adults and two children: a two-bedroom place with a cute semi-outdoor bathroom, simple rooms, good furnishings, lots of storage, comfortable beds, and mosquito nets. After snorkeling right out front, it was lovely to return to a made-up room, fresh towels, and everything cleaned. The cottage is close to the beach, where you can walk into the water to snorkel a gorgeous reef with turtles, so there’s no need to book a trip. The air conditioning was cool. I’ve traveled around Indonesia for over 10 years, and understand that mosquitoes come with the tropical climate, bathrooms may smell because of well water and a different septic system, and cows, chickens, and geckos can make noise. This isn’t a 5 star hotel. If that’s what you want, go to a more populated island or don’t travel in Indonesia. Some people just like to complain. We chose it for the location, and the staff are why we’ll return. Do yourself a favour and book in for true Lombok hospitality.

We meant to stay for two days, then added one more. The quiet pool was perfect for cooling off after a walk on a hot day, and we could sit and relax there. Hendra was especially helpful with advice, directions, and arranging our laundry. Riem and Sep took care of our drinks and breakfast, and everyone was friendly. Gili Air is only a few minutes from Lombok. We loved our stay. Thanks, Hendra, you’re great.

We came for four nights and ended up staying ten. The beach is very close, the rooms are lovely, and the pool was really nice. The staff were friendly and so helpful, and breakfast was great.

The cottages have some age to them, but they’re kept in great shape and have a lot of charm. Being surrounded by jungle made the stay feel peaceful and close to nature. Our room was carefully cleaned each day, and the staff kept checking that we had what we needed. Hendra, Sabir, Rim, and Pia were warm, attentive, and professional throughout our four nights. We had a wonderful time in Gili Air, and this place made it special. Highly recommend it.

These are typical Indonesian cottages, cozy and comfortable, though without luxury amenities. The pool is a nice feature and seems well suited to families, and the prices are fairly affordable. One tip: book a private snorkeling trip for 6:30 so you have time to get back, freshen up, and have breakfast. We didn’t enjoy the hotel’s snorkeling company. The staff weren’t very friendly or prepared, and they blamed bad weather before skipping the places they’d promised to take us.
